A Review From the Audience on the First Night

KoKEN:TANDA – avant garde Malay theatre

By Nathaniel Tan

Last night, I made it to a staging of KoKEN:TANDA by the folks at Rumah Anak Teater, which is an experimental ensemble play featuring six segments by six different writer/directors themed around the environment.

It was a great effort by this volunteer outfit, whose spirit I really love. They are basically a group of friends and friends of friends who get together to stage performances out of pure passion. What little income they make from tickets and donations they share among the actors and production crew.
